Aavahayami (ಆವಾಹಯಾಮಿ) is an Indian Kannada language mystery thriller film written and directed by Girish Kumar B in his debut, and produced by the banner Woodcreepers. It features debutantes Vijay Raj, Girish Kumar B, Akshatha and Mouna Shree in the lead roles. Music by Gautham Srivatsaa, cinematography by Kiran K Nair, Editing by Rathish Kumar B.

The film's plot is about Vijay, where the protagonist working in an MNC frustrated with work load in the office plans for the weekend trip with his other 7 friends. When traveling for the destination of the weekend trip, they miss their road and their vehicles get in problem and doesn't start, so their plans to stay there in a nearby lonely farmhouse. In that house they face many difficult situations and few of their friends die, and one of his friend gets away from that farmhouse, and how they come out of this situation is the plot of the story.

Plot[edit]

Aavahayami [1] plot is non-linear, and the middle scene of the film shows the real beginning of the story. A Reporter who works for a TV channel looking for a haunted place visits the Surya farm house, which was said to be an haunted place, and the reporter goes missing there.

The story starts with the protagonist playing Kabbadi, he wins the game. Vijay enters office and enquires if his friend Bharath has come to office or not, his close friend. Because of the work pressure Vijay and Bharath plan to go for a weekend trip. Vijay and Bharath meet all his friends who are on the trip with them in a Pub and from there they start travelling.

While travelling they miss the road and their vehicle gets in trouble, doesn't start, as it's evening they search a place to stay there, they see Surya farm house near and plan to stay that night in the farm house. In the night before going to sleep one of the members sees a mysterious thing in the house and gets afraid and informs all his friends and requests to leave the place, but his friends calm him and entertain him, while entertaining they find a diary, and Vijay opens the diary and starts reading it, they see warnings written in the diary to not read it.

In the morning by seeing the beauty of the farm house and the surrounding they plan to spend their vacation in the Surya farm house. Raghu in a conversation with Vijay, asks him to check the diary once again, and they find a word that Bharath is going to die, and the story goes on.

Production[edit]

Girish Kumar's very own dream script Aavahayami.[2] which he was planning to make a movie from long back. For the next few months, he met quite a few producers and top actors and found it difficult to fund his film. Hence he teamed up with his brother and friends to do the movie. It was funded by 6 investors who contributed to the project. The shooting started on March 20^th 2016, the movie was made with a limited budget, and a very high skilled technicians.

The Press meet was done on 13^th Dec 2017 in Chamudeshwari Studios

Release and reception[edit]

The film was given the "U/A" certificate by the Kannada Film Censor Board. It was released theatrically in theaters across Karnataka on 29^th Dec 2017.
