Abd Al Hussein Ali Al-Kalidar Al-Tumah (Arabic: عبد الحسين علي الكليدار ) (1881-March 30, 1961) is a departing Iraqi nobleman, writer and scientific researcher, who took over the Husseinian threshold in the 33rd and 37th periods between 1900 and 1931[1] [2] [3] [4]. He wrote a collection of books on the history and culture of Karbalaa ,including for the nobles in the history of Karbalaa and the history of "al toma al-musawis".[5]

Biography[edit]

Abd Al Hussein was born in 1881 to his father Ali Al-Kalidar (died May 3, 1900).[6]   from the Tumah branch of the Al-Faiz family. his grandfather Jawad received the name "Kalidar" consisting of two sections: "in Persian: Kleet" and "Persian: Dar", which means the key holder in Persian, a title given to those who adopted the nursing homes of the holy shrines.[7]

He grew up and learned in karbalaa ,and was greatly influenced by the literary atmosphere around him in that era. At the age of 19 and the death of his father, he became responsible for the guardianship of imam Hussein's mausoleum and oversaw the golden Iwan building of the mausoleum in 1912. He also ordered the mausoleum cage to be repainted with silver, having been worn out.[8]

When Hamza bey was appointed governor of Karbalaa on October 1, 1915, the relationship between the Ottoman Empire and the karbali reached its peak, and there was a sense of unrest in the city, forcing Abd Al Hussein to leave Karbala for Baghdad in February 1916, and he was removed from office. His cousin Abdul Hussein Ayyan[9] took office[10].  in 1920, Abd Al Hussein was reinstated by order of Percy Cox who became Iraq's high commissioner.[11]

In 1928, Abdul Hussein nominated dignitaries to the Iraqi senate, but his appointment letter was sent by mistake to Abdul Hussein Al-Kledar, as a result of their similarity in the first and last name. Abdul Hussein Al-Kledar decided to waive the guardianship of the shrine for his son Abdul Saleh and pursue political work, before realizing what had happened because of the similarity in the name. upon his arrival in baghdad, the senate realized that he was not the person in question, but because of the critical situation at the time, they decided to accept him as a member.[12]

After his term in the council, he returned to karbala and spent the rest of his life writing. Although he abdicated as the mausoleum to his son in 1928, he was officially relieved of his mouth on May 18, 1931.[13]

Personal life[edit]

Abd Al Hussein married the daughter of the wealthy Baghdadi merchant Abdulhadi Astarabadi (1806–1899). He had two sons, Abdul Saleh and Mohmmed Khadem. his brother-in-law Mohammed Al-Astarabadi had hidden Nouri Al-Saeed at his home during the July 1958 movement.[14]

Abd Al Hussein was able to establish a large library where the mothers of manuscript and printed books were collected, but they were burned in the hamza bey incident in 1915 (1333 ah) when a confrontation took place between the ottomans led by hamza bey and the people of Karbalaa led by sheikh Fakhri Kamouna and ended with the defeat of ottoman forces and the control of the people led by sheikh Kamouna on the city. Abd Al Hussein re-established his library and assigned it to the great abkh, mr. Abdul Saleh, and continues to preserve all his manuscripts. and exists so far[15].  several famous figures visited the library, including the French orientalist louis masignon and the English orientalist Gertrude bell during their journey to Iraq in the early 20th century.
