Abhimanyu Mukherjee is a Bengali film director, producer, writer, actor and lyricist. He made his movie directorial debut in Noor Jahaan (2018). His first appearance as an actor was in a cameo role in Chirodini Tumi Je Amar (2008), while he first played a major role in Challenge (2009).[1]
Personal life[edit]
Abhimanyu was born in Kolkata, the younger of two sons of Anjan and Basudha Mukherjee. He did his schooling from Patha Bhavan, Kolkata, from where he passed both his Secondary and Higher Secondary. He holds a degree in law from South Calcutta Law College.
He married actor Anindita Bose in 2015. The couple divorced in 2017. In 2020, Abhimanyu married actor Manali Dey.
Actor[edit]
He participated in the Bangla comedy reality show Mirakkel in 2006, during which he met director Raj Chakraborty. He also participated in I Laugh You, directed by Chakraborty.
Later, he worked with Chakraborty in several movies. He started as assistant director in Chirodini Tumi Je Amar (2008), where he also had a cameo appearance. Later, he played significant roles as actor in Challenge and Dui Prithibi.
Director[edit]
Under the Zee Telefilms banner, he directed Dev I Laugh You in 2016 and Nimki Phulki in 2017. Noor Jahan, an Indo-Bangladeshi production and his first feature film as director, released in 2018. His subsequent works as director include Piya Re (2018), Googly (2019), Teko (2019) and Hullor (2020). In 2020 he directed Nimki Phulki 2, a sequel to the 2017 telefilm.
In 2020 he also directed the Zee5 web series Kaali 2.
Pandemonium Productions[edit]
He co-owns Pandemonium Productions[2], an entertainment production house. Its first production, the telefilm Banchharamer Baganbari, was screened in 2019, and Nimki Phulki in 2020.
Upcoming productions include feature films Haluaman and Lockdown.
Lyricist[edit]
Abhimanyu penned the lyrics of the superhit title song "challenge nibi na sala" in the 2009 movie Challenge.[3][circular reference]
