Abu Sufian

Abu Sufian (Bengali: আবু সুফিয়ান; born November 1989) is a Bangladeshi poet and writer.[1][2] He was born in Comilla, Bangladesh.[1] His writings have appeared in many national and international publications that include newspaper, magazine, literary journals, books and poetry anthologies.[3] During his MA studies, he has been exposed to Sufi poets like Rumi, Saadi Shirazi, Hafez, Omar Khayyam.[4] His works are greatly motivated by these legendary Sufi poets and philosophers.

Poetry[edit]

His poems got published in journals, magazines, books and poetry anthologies. The journals include Scarlet Leaf Review, Criterion, Literary Voyage, The Literary Herald and Clairvoyance. Abu Sufian's poems got published in four international poetry anthologies, they are; Voice of Monarch Butterflies (2016),[5] Apple Fruits of an Old Oak (2016)[6] Where Are You From? (2017)[7] and Dandelion in a Vase of Roses[8] (2017).[2]

Abu Sufian is at a Q/A session after a Talk at International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur in 2014.

The Telegraph (Calcutta) acclaimed Sufian as a 'prominent figure in contemporary poetry in Bangladesh'.[9]

One of his micro poems titles In Nature is selected for Poetry of the Week by Hall of Poets,[1] an online-based global community of writers, poets and artists from all over the world:[1]

The fittest survive
The weakest go extinct,
The predators haunt the prey.
In nature
Justice is a myth
So is kindness.[10]

The recurrent themes found in his poems include Life and Death, Love, Mysticism, God, Sufism, Feminism, Colonial Oppression, Science and Literature, Freedom of Speech, Happiness and so on.
