Abusupiyan Magomedov (born September 2, 1990) is a Russian-born German professional mixed martial artist who competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional since 2010, he has previously competed in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), KSW, and various European promotions. Known for his striking and submission skills, Magomedov holds notable wins over Michel Pereira, Brunno Ferreira, and Warlley Alves.[1]
Early life
Abusupiyan Magomedov was born on September 2, 1990, in the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, then part of the Russian SFSR in the Soviet Union. Raised in a region renowned for its deep-rooted wrestling culture, Magomedov was introduced to combat sports at a young age, beginning with wrestling. His early exposure to martial arts was heavily influenced by his family, particularly his father, who played a pivotal role in nurturing his athletic ambitions.
At the age of 15, Magomedov and his family relocated to Germany due to his mother's health issues. The move marked a significant turning point in his life, as he transitioned from wrestling to kickboxing and later discovered mixed martial arts (MMA). Settling in Düsseldorf, he quickly adapted to his new environment and began training at UFD Gym, where he would eventually launch his professional MMA career.
