Achara Kirk (born 31 July 1984)[2][3] is a British actress, model, cinematographer, editor and YouTube personality currently based in Los Angeles, United States.[4][5] She is known for being part of the YouTube reaction channel "jaby koay".[6] In 2019, the Channel hit 1 million subscribers[7] and has 1 billion+ views.[8]

Early life and education[edit]

Achara Kirk was born on 10 May 1984 to Tim Kirk and Panvilai Kirk.[2][3] She has a younger sister. She lived in Indonesia from the age of 3 to 11.[9][4] She did her Bachelor of Arts in Drama at the Royal Holloway, University of London and her post graduation in Professional Acting at the Oxford School of Drama.[10][9]

Career[edit]

Her first acting gig was for an ad of Swensen's Icecream when she was 12.[9] She then played a supporting character in the Thai fantasy film Mueng Lap Lae Khon Mahasajan at the age of 13.[9] She then played lead role in the Channel 3 TV series Wai Olawon.[9]

She then went on to study in London. She participated in a lot of dramas and also landed a few acting gigs while in London. She then moved to Vancouver, Canada,[9] then later to Los Angeles, United States.[9]

She has done small roles in TV series such as Fringe and Alcatraz and has performed in short films like Adrift in Sunset, Whole 'Nother Level, GEEKS, and Intimate Strangers.[2][9][10] Whole 'Nother Level was selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2013[11] while Adrift in Sunset won the Audience Award - Frameline and was runner-up at the Audience Award - MiFo LGBT Film Festival.[12] She also had a role in The Decoy Bride. She has also done commercials for X-Box, L.G., Japan Tobacco, and Canon.[10]

Through casting she met Jaby Koay, who brought her as a guest to his channel initially. Later after making many regular appearances on his YouTube channel, Kirk became a permanent part of the channel. She now handles the editing of videos[13] which have to be put out on the channel as well as controlling their Patreon channel "The Jaby Koay Team".[14] Kirk is popular among the "jaby koay" channel's audience. Apart from the main channel and their subsidiaries "GETJaby" and "JabyTV", she has her own YouTube channel "Achara", where she posts vlogs, gaming videos and beauty videos.
