Acrillics is the stage name of the DJ & Production duo consisting of Rob Atkins and Andro Mathewson, from New Zealand, and Scotland, respectively. Founded in 2016, the duo has since released tracks with LA-based multi-genre label Mad Zoo,[1] run by Mat Zo,[2] and Florida-based Noiseporn,[3] via Symphonic Distribution.[4] Since their inception, they have been supported by artists such as Alison Wonderland, Dillon Francis and Boombox Cartel.[5]

History

Rob Atkins and Andro Mathewson met while studying at the University of Otago, in Dunedin, New Zealand. They performed their first headlining show in Wellington in November 2016.[6] Initially primarily self-releasing on SoundCloud, the duo started also releasing on other streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. After graduating from University, they moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2019, to further pursue their musical career.[7] There they performed alongside Mat Zo at the release party for the recent Mad Zoo compilation,[8] as well as at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood, for SpaceYacht.[9] In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the duo transitioned, like many other artists, to streaming online via Twitch, as well as at online Minecraft festivals alongside Mat Zo, Kill the Noise, Rohaan, Mija and Holly.[10]
