Approach[edit]

Gravity Flow Systems[edit]

Acts for Water's approach uses Gravity Flow Systems to provide clean water to a wide range of villages and communities in Uganda. They find a water spring source in the hills above the communities in need, monitor that source for about 5 years to ensure it is sustainable, even in a drought. They then protect the source and build a network of pipelines, reservoirs, and accessible tap stands to give clean water to several villages. Once the system has been created, no manual labor (such as pumping water) is required. Gravity does all the work[2]

Water and Sanitation Health (WASH)[edit]

Acts believes that clean accessible water is the most important factor in a community's overall health. Their goal is to shorten peoples' daily walk for water from hours to minutes. To do this, they engage in equal partnership with local community members and have an education team that raises awareness about the project, recruits volunteers, and educates the community on health and sanitation[3][4]

This goal is also carried out in schools, where water taps and latrines improve the education, safety, and dignity of the students.

This health and sanitation training, along with training on maintenance of the water system, is given to communities for an entire year.

Acts monitors all these goals and their success rates with evidence based monitoring and evaluation. Their goal is to see real results of decreased levels of waterborne diseases as well as increased quality of life.
