Niaz Support, founded in 2022, is a social enterprise based in Pakistan that provides custom wheelchairs based on their body measurements and disability needs.[1] The enterprise also involves persons with disabilities in the manufacturing process of these wheelchairs, providing them with employment opportunities[2].
History
Niaz Support was founded in 2022 by Hussain Odhwani[3]. Niaz means gift[4].
Through its website, it provides a platform where gifters from everywhere in the world are connected with people with disabilities in Pakistan. The gifters select a person or multiple people from a list of verified beneficiaries to donate a wheelchair to[5]. The beneficiaries who receive the wheelchairs send the gifters a video as a token of gratitude. Niaz Support also sends the gifters a quarterly impact report that explains how the gifts impact the community. [1]
In 2023, Jahangir Khan, Abrar-ul-Haq and Azam Jamil were appointed as global goodwill ambassadors of Niaz Support. [4]
In 2024, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan was appointed as the organisation's global goodwill ambassador[6]
Collaborations
In 2023, Niaz Support signed a memorandum of understanding with the Capital Development Authority to provide custom wheelchairs to workers and their family members with disabilities.[7]
In 2024, Niaz Support collaborated with Moawin Foundation to provide mobility solutions to children with disabilities in Pakistan. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize the provision of custom-tailored wheelchairs that consider the unique needs and measurements of each child.[8][9]
In 2024, Niaz Support entered a collaborative partnership with Special Talent Exchange Program, to expand their reach to persons with disabilities in Pakistan[10]
