Not to be confused with Adblock

AdLock is the adblocking and privacy protection software for blocking pop-ups/unders, banners, auto-play video/audio ads, and web tracking, porn, malware, and phishing. Originally developed by Hankuper s.r.o, a Slovak software development company based in Bratislava.

AdLock is represented in a range of products — standalone applications supporting Microsoft Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS and extensions for the most widely used browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.

As it's stated on the official website of the application, AdLock’s data processing does not involve third-party servers or services. The full operation cycle is performed locally, on the user’s device — be it a PC or a smartphone. This allows preserving strict privacy.[1]

Products[edit]

Browser extensions[edit]

AdLock browser extensions are available on official browser web stores respectively. Extensions remove online commercials: video ads, pop-ups, banners, text ads. The product also blocks spyware and warns users of malicious websites and harmful URL redirection.

Applications[edit]

AdLock is delivered as standalone applications for computers on Windows[2] and macOS, and mobile handheld devices running on Android and iOS.

The operation of mobile applications is performed through establishing a local VPN service, which provides a possibility of filtering the traffic.

Business model[edit]

Browser extensions are free to use, while applications come in form of shareware — a free trial with the subsequent subscription.

Reception[edit]

Despite the positive feedback in industry publications[3][4], AdLock for Android is not available on Google Play as Google prohibits the distribution of network-level ad blockers via Google Play[5][6]. The distribution of the applications for Windows and Android is issued through the official website of the product.
