Ad Avenger is an adware extension that claims to block advertisements, prevent trackers from profiling users, and restrict access to malicious pages. It is known that its actually an advertising-supported program, it displays advertisements instead of blocking them

Ad Avenger generates advertisements that might open untrustworthy web pages. For example, various scams asking to provide personal information, download pages for browser-hijacking extensions. Another reason not to click on those advertisements is that they could be designed to run specific scripts and download or install unwanted software.[1]
