From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Adam Tang (born August 20, 1983) is a Canadian driver and amateur filmmaker, who set the record for "The Fastest Lap Around Manhattan" completing the 26.9 mile loop in 24 minutes 7 seconds in August 2013. [1]

Record Manhattan Lap[edit]

During the early mornings of August 26, 2013, Adam Tang, a Canadian, set a new official record time of 24 minutes 7 seconds around Manhattan, in New York City.[2] He drove a 6-speed manual stock 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si convertible. Tang used a dashboard camera to capture his journey. [3]

After editing the original footage down to 6 minutes and 3 seconds, speeding it up by a factor of 4.3x, he added, "No Beef" - by Afrojack and Steve Aoki feat. Miss Palmer, as the background music, and posted the video on YouTube on August 28, 2013 under the account name AfroDuckProductions.[1]

On August 31, 2013, a WABC-TV news reporter questioned NYPD Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly, about the popularity of the video during a formal dinner event. He had not. By now, the video had received nearly a half million views when the Police Commissioner vowed a citywide manhunt for "Afroduck", promising to use the cities newly installed traffic surveillance cameras and license plate readers to track down the driver. [4] To date, the NYPD has not released any of these pictures or video.

By observations of his video, the only traffic infractions made were crossing over a double white line in the battery park tunnel, and running one pedestrian red light along the way up the west side of Manhattan. His highest speed has never been revealed by him or determined by the NYPD traffic surveillance cameras as promised by the Commissioner. [4]

On September 5, 2013, NYPD arrested Tang at his apartment in East Harlem. The NYPD Highway Special Investigations Unit, without a warrant, tracked Mr. Tang's IP address through his YouTube user name "AfroDuckProductions", then through his ISP, Verizon, to ascertain his local address within the city. [3] Upon his arrest, the NYPD impounded his car. The forfeiture law is usually applied to drug dealers. [3] He is currently being charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment. [3]
