From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Colston VB (ne: Colston Villanueva; born October 7th, 1991)[1] is a professional big-mountain freeskier, TV personality, and filmmaker. He is best known for his high-level athletic performances and the skiing short films he has co-directed and starred in. He has also featured in other major skiing media, such as his multiple appearances on both the Salomon Freeski TV series and the cover of SBC Skier Magazine. Recently, he has become known among wider audiences for his role on the 2017 Bravo reality TV show Timber Creek Lodge.

Early life and skiing career[edit]

Colston spent his early years exploring his interest in winter sports at Red Mountain, first as a student in Nancy Green’s snowboarding program and then as a member of the RED Mountain Racers team. From there, he began competing in the Junior Big Mountain series, where his gold medal placements in several challenges earned him an invitation to the 2007 Red Bull Cold Rush, as well as sponsorship from Oakley, Helly Hansen, Line Skis, and Red Mountain Resort.[1] By 2014, he was also being sponsored by other big sporting brand names like Salomon, Giro, and GoPro, travelling to locations such as Alaska and the European Alps to produce content for this group of sponsors.[2]

In both October 2012 and November 2014, Colston was featured on the cover of the magazine SBC Skier (photographs by Dan Carr and Reuben Krabbe).[3] In 2015, he was ranked in an online reader’s poll as one of the top 10 “Skiers of the Year” by Freeskier Magazine.[1] He also competed in the 2016 Red Bull Cold Rush, and received sponsorship from Lib Tech in the same year, becoming a driving force for the reputed snowboarding company’s push into the skiing market.[4]

Film and television career[edit]

Colston has been a filmmaker for as long as he has been an athlete, and has been consistently publishing his various professional short films through his Vimeo and YouTube channels since 2010. These films are largely made in collaboration with notable film industry auteurs (such as Andre Nutini[5]) and big name companies (such as GoPro, Giro, and Teton Gravity Research).[6][7]

In January 2013, Colston was the featured skier in David Peacock[8]’s viral short film “Pillow Talk,” which showcases footage from the three days that they spent skiing together in Revelstoke, British Columbia.[9][10] In March 2014, he starred in DRFTWD’s “Blackout” (filmed/edited by Jamie Tanner), another short film highlighting another one of Colston’s skiing ventures at Revelstoke.[11] In 2015, he was a featured athlete in two episodes of the web series Salomon Freeski TV: S8E08 (“Cutting Lines”) and S9E04 (“Bella Coola”).[12][13]

In 2016, NBC BravoTV cast Colston as a “VIP Mountain Host” for their reality TV series Timber Creek Lodge as both a star of the show and a member of the lodge’s ensemble staff. He was fitted for this role as a known skiing professional with the responsibility of guiding celebrities through various outdoor activities. He featured prominently in each of the season’s eight episodes.[14][15]
