Early life and career[edit]

Dev was born in a Bengali family in Ranchi to Ashwini Aditya Dev, a mimicry artist, and anchor. Dev began his musical career at the age of seven, when he and his family travelled to Kathmandu. He was in a Kathmandu supermarket when he came upon a pencil box with a piano on top of it. He got his father to purchase it for him, and he played it until the battery died. This was the beginning of his passion for music. He then began travelling across the country with his father for other concerts, which helped him overcome his early stage fear. His love of music led him to organise musical performances for his peers at school. Since he was in eighth grade, Dev has been performing live shows. Dev began recording keys for several notable artists while he was just 13 years old. In the same year, he received requests to perform from Akashvani and Doordarshan.[1][not in citation given][2][not in citation given]

In 2003, Dev met his wife Payal Dev at an event when they were both performing. Payal pushed him to relocate to Mumbai. In 2006, he met Krishna, a music composer, and this was a big milestone in his career. With this, he was able to work on a project with Shaan, Baba Sehgal, and Payal. This was also Payal's debut album. His next big break came in 2009, when he was offered a spot in the band Recharge of artist Anuradha Pal to perform at the Woodstock festival. In the same year, he had the opportunity to perform with Asha Bhosle and Shaan, as well as their respective bands. The turning point in his life came in the year 2012 with his first song "Kabhi Jo Badal Barse" featuring Arijit Singh from the movie Jackpot.[3][not in citation given]

Personal life[edit]

After numerous years of working together, Dev married Payal, a well-known vocalist and his frequent collaborator, in 2008. The couple resides in Mumbai with their daughter named Jazz.[4]
