Admiralty Sloboda, also Sea Quarters is the name used to apply to the territory within the sand bank of the fish recycling factory and the place where the crossing of Nekrasovsky Avenue[1] with Pushkina Street and Shevchenko Street in Taganrog in Rostov Oblast was located.

History

As of 4 December 1775, according to documents, the Admiralty was already functioning in Taganrog. During the rule of Catherine the Great[2] in the territory of the sand spit, a forge with 20 forging horns was already functioning. Near the forge were workshops' premises where plumbing, lantern work, and machinery with secrets were carried out.

In the territory of Admiralty Sloboda, special mast sheds and other premises were built, which were used for keeping supplies, cannon machines, and rigging. Boat workshops were above breakage. They were intended for keeping boats and some other kinds of seagoing ships. Special premises for keeping forest were built. There was a special sail workshop where a cellar with sea provision was envisaged. On the left side from the descent, the house of the chief commander was built; on the right side, the port office, carved workshop, and guardhouse were located.
