Adnan Hatem Joubran (Arabic: عدنان حاتم جبران; born November 9, 1985) is a Palestinian musician, composer, oud player and record producer. He is best known as a member of Le Trio Joubran, a world music ensemble formed with his brothers in 2004.[1][2][3][4].Joubran is noted for his innovative approach to the oud and his work in film scores.
Early life and education
Joubran was raised in a Palestinian musical family. His father, Hatem Joubran, is a third-generation luthier specialising in traditional Middle Eastern Instruments. His mother, Ebtisam Joubran, is a singer. He has three siblings: Samir Joubran, Wissam Joubran and Suha Joubran[5][6][7], who is also a singer.
Joubran began studying percussion at the age of eight and later developed an interest in cinematography. At 18, he joined his brothers Samir and Wissam to form Le Trio Joubran in 2003, described as the first oud trio of its kind.
Musical style and approach
Joubran is known for his innovative and unconventional approach to playing the oud, pushing the boundaries of traditional Middle Eastern music. He has referred to himself as “a cinematographer with music,” viewing the oud as a tool for narrative and emotional expression. His performances often incorporate improvisation within the framework of Oriental music traditions and Contemporary musical aesthetics.
Career
Le Trio Joubran
Since 2004, Joubran has performed internationally as a member of Le Trio Joubran. The group’s albums have reached high positions on world music charts in France and other countries for two consecutive years. They have performed at venues including Carnegie Hall (New York), L'Olympia (Paris), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Dubai Opera, Opéra Bastille (Paris), Philharmonie de Paris, Hamburg Philharmonic, and Cologne Philharmonic.
Solo career
Alongside his work with the trio, Joubran released the solo album “Border Behind”, featuring Jorge Pardo, the flamenco flute player, and had several collaborations with various musicians such as Ibrahim Maalouf, Karim Baggili and Kader Fahem.

Joubran has composed for cinema and theatre, including:
Collaboration with Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi in the composition of the soundtrack for "5 Broken Cameras".

Activism
Joubran has participated in charitable and humanitarian initiatives, particularly related to Palestinian causes.
In 2018, Joubran organised a concert that raised $1 million to purchase two mobile cancer screening units for Palestine, regularly participated in charity concerts supporting Palestinian hospitals and families in need and hosted and participated in international fundraising events.[13][14][15]
In September 2025, Joubran performed alongside renowned artists such as Brian Eno, Paul Weller, Richard Gere, Benedict Cumberbatch and Florence Pugh at the 'Together For Palestine' event held at Wembley Arena, which successfully raised over £1.5 million for charity. During the event, Joubran performed with Brian Eno a piece including Paul Weller on the guitar.[16][17][18][19]
