Adventure Box is a platform for making, sharing and playing 3D games online. It’s built using HTML5 technologies, and it takes place in procedurally generated voxel worlds, in the browser.[1] The game has been in development since Spring-Summer 2014. Its singleplayer mode was released on August 9, 2014. The multiplayer mode was added on March 6, 2017.
The game uses IBM cloud computing as its cloud platform.
Gameplay
Adventure Box is a platform that lets anyone create and share their own worlds & games on the web. Game makers can create worlds in many ways, including importing Minecraft maps, creating 3D maps directly from Google Maps or autogenerating random configurations.[2] Worlds are edited. Characters can be created and entered into worlds. Characters can be given dialogue, behaviors and even quests. The game's website offers two options; Play a Game or Make a Game.
Making a Game
When the player wants to create their own game, they have two options; creating an open world or a battlefield game. Open world RPG maps are filled with stories, traps and adventures designed by the user. Battlefield maps are arena worlds, where players fight against each other.
Playing a Game
As a game player, the user can play any game published at Adventure Box. There are lots of maps/worlds that have been made by Adventure Box Makers. Players choose one of the maps and then either start their own game or join a game that has been already started by other players.
Development
The alpha version of Adventure Box was created by the developer team of Happy L-Lord in 2014.
Then, in June 2016, Happy L-Lord announced that players are able to generate terrains from any area from Google Maps.[3]
On March 6, 2017, developers announced multiplayer mode of the game and also the beta version of the game was released with this update.[4]
Happy L-Lord team is still working on the development process of the game to release the full version of Adventure Box.
