Advocates for Animals is a UK law firm focusing on animal protection law. The firm was founded in 2019[2] and engages in activities including judicial reviews, freedom of information requests, undercover investigations, and work on soft law instruments.[3]

Practice[edit]

The firm has advised on the following matters:

  • Working on behalf of The Humane League[4], Advocates for Animals was granted a court hearing to challenge the government over the legality in England of fast-growing broiler chickens.[5]
  • Representing a coalition of animal protection groups, Advocates For Animals called on the UK government to vote against The Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Bill 2021 as it could impede efforts by animal protection groups.[6]
  • Advocates for Animals advised Animal Justice Project in regards to their “Down with Duck Farming” campaign, which alleges UK duck farming policies breach the Animal Welfare Act 2006.[7]
  • Advocates for Animals worked with World Animal Protection to highlight illegal animal trading and animal welfare concerns at a UK wildlife market, leading to its closure.[8]
