advok8.in was incorporated in India on 26 April 2016 and started with the appointment booking model where they listed profiles of lawyers on their website and litigants could open their website and book an appointment with any lawyer they wished to. However, due to several reasons, the model collapsed and the founder was forced to do a pivot and come up with a new solution.
The team took to the whiteboard again and did a detailed market study to understand the underlying problems faced by both lawyers and litigants in legal sector in India. As a result of this, a new technology driven model was launched in June 2017 where advok8.in pivoted to India's first peer to peer learning platform for lawyers and law students. Along with this, advok8.in also launched a case tracking platform where lawyers and litigants get automated updates about the latest developments in their case[3].
As per the detailed market study, advok8.in also found that the primary underlying problem is the lack of finances available to worthy litigants which keep them away from the legal system[4]. The company then also started third party litigation funding in February 2018, where the company covered the entire legal expenses of litigants who have worthy cases[5].
The company also plans to be the first company in India to launch legal insurance and Tele Law.
