Aeris aka The Story of Aeris: A Legacy Inspired by Love is a multi award-winning short film about a kitten called Aeris that was born with Feline infectious peritonitis. It stars Paul Castro Jr., Aly Miller, Frank Deal, Arabella Oz, Betsy Aidem and Kairi. It is based on a true story.
Background[edit]
The film was first screened in Los Angeles on July 8th 2017.[1] The film was directed by Paul Castro, Jr., and both he and Aly Miller produced the film.[2] It was also co-produced by Winn Feline Foundation.[3] It was adapted from a feature-length screenplay of Castro and Miller called 12 Days.[4] The film premiered at the Lincoln Center. The event was hosted by The Winn Feline Foundation.[5] It was also shown at the 2018 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, [6] the Sofia Independent Film Festival,[7] and the Borrego Springs Film Festival. It was also an official selection at the 2017 Sofia Independent Film Festival and the 2018 Borrego Springs Film Festival.[8] The film was discussed on Steve Dale's WGN radio show.[9] In an interview by The Purrington Post, the film makers indicated that via the film, they wanted to bring awareness to Feline infectious peritonitis.[10]
Story[edit]
A young couple who are struggling with their own issues try to save the life of a kitten which in turn helps them to find something about love.[11][12] The kitten which was purchased from a pet store, was born with the incurable disease, Feline infectious peritonitis. The film covers their twelve days with the kitten.[13][14][15] It was described by Laemmle Theaters as a heartbreaking and heartwarming film.[16]
