Afonso de Albuquerque was a Portuguese corvette. The ship was built at The Thames Iron Works shipyards, in Blackwall, England, and the corvette was launched into the water on 9 July 1884. It left for Portugal on 23 October 1884, and still that year, it left for the Naval Division of Angola. In 1893 she played a commission in Brazil and in 1894 she gave asylum to Saldanha da Gama and her comrades in revolt. On October 25, 1902, she left Lisbon for the Naval Division of Angola to fulfil what would be her last and most prolonged commission.[1][2]
