Afri-culture
Afri-Culture is an Ottawa based global online publication dedicated to providing readers with positive information pertaining to the African continent and people of African descent. The publication provides readers with topics ranging from Arts & Entertainment, Science & Technology, Lifestyle and Sports. Afri-Culture was founded on February 2013 by Raissa Nkuba, who is also the publication's Editor-in-Chief.[1]
Shortly following its launch, Afri-Culture published an article that listed the 15 Most Influential Africans in Canada,[2] generating much attention nationally and internationally.[3]
Afri-Culture has interviewed celebrities and public figures such as Isaiah Washington, Nana Meriwether, Remi Adetiba,[4] Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Dr. Hawa Abdi,[5] Molly Johnson, Jason Njoku, Professor Francisca Okeke,[6] Redi Tlhabi,[7] Menaye Donkor and Calestous Juma.
Locally, Afri-Culture has had the pleasure of interviewing the likes of Gwen Madiba, Komi Olaf, Grace Odumo, Jana Hanzel and Emilia Torabi and Christa Mayaliwa.
In February, Afri-Culture partnered up with Ajoa Cakes to organize the first ever Young Afro-Canadian Startup Founders' Networking Night,[8] a concept that seeks to consolidate young Afro-canadian entrepreneurship talents, and open new opportunities for them within the Afro-canadian community. One of the event's sponsors was NBA player, Anthony Tolliver.[9]
