Afsheen Salmani (born October 11, 1986), stylized in all caps as AFSHEEN, is an American artist, DJ, electronic music producer, composer, and songwriter.[1]
Early life
Afsheen Salmani was born on October 11, 1986 in Tehran, Iran and was raised in San Francisco. He started playing the keyboard at the age of ten and was producing music by 18.[citation needed] He graduated with a B.A. in sound engineering from SAE Expression College, California.[2]
Salmani initially produced music for various artists including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Chris Brown, Sia and others.[citation needed] He worked on pop and electronic music. In 2013, he produced "Nobody Does It Like You" by Selena Gomez.[citation needed]
In 2015, Afsheen served as a producer and oversaw programming and instruments for "Joan of Arc".[3]
In 2016, he wrote the song "All We Have Is Love" with Sabrina Carpenter.[citation needed] His music evolved over the years, with releases like "Let Me Down Slow," "Tunnel," and "Secrets".[citation needed] In 2016, he made his live performance debut at Kygo's Hollywood Bowl show.[4]
He also wrote and produced "Sunny Days" with Armin van Buuren and Toby Gad in 2017.[citation needed] In 2018, Afsheen released a new collaboration with British singer-songwriter and X-Factor star Rebecca Ferguson called "Creatures of the Night".[5]
His song "Four Seasons" recorded in 2019 by South Korean singer Taeyeon, claimed the number one spot on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks and reached number 6 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.[6]
Afsheen released his debut solo project, "First EP," in early 2010.[citation needed] Two years later, he collaborated with Mackenzie Thoms on the track "Blast Off" and also issued his own single, "Words" (Next Plateau Entertainment).[7]
In October 2024, Afsheen released his first major independent album, Small World, featuring artists like Lindsey Stirling, Trinidad James, Sid Sriram, Rebecca Ferguson.[2][8][not in citation given]

Afsheen's music blends elements of house, dubstep, and pop, characterized by its nocturnal vibe similar to artists like Kygo and ZHU.[9] Releases like "Better Than I Used To Be" and "Dancing With You" highlight his signature "warm house" tunes.[9] He also collaborated with Toby Gad on multiple projects, including Madonna's album, Rebel Heart (2015).[1][10]
