History

2010; Debut, Somin’s Departure, Comeback

2010, one year after they debuted “Party Girls”, Starfish decided to debut a new girl group under the name “AfterDark”. The group debuted on May 5, 2010, with the song “Hit U”.

August 1st, member Somin left the group after rumors surrounding the fact that she had an affair with the manager.

November 4, 2011, they dropped their first mini album “Like A Wave” with the title track “Hotness”.

2012-2013; Comeback, Big Boy, Mini Album, GAIN’s Departure

In 2012, they came back with the song “Fire It Up”. The song was not promoted well.

Solji once stated in an interview:

"우리는 인기에 어려움을 겪고 있었기 때문에 해산을 생각했고, 소민은 떠났고, 회원들에게 매우 놀라웠다"

2013 came around, and they dropped one of the biggest songs of their career, “Big Boy”. It was a concept no one saw from AfterDark. They were in suits and were playing a dominant role.

After promotions were over, GAIN’s contract was terminated, and she was kicked from the group.

2014; Marionette, Lineup Changes, Wiggle Wiggle, Final Comeback, Solji & Dolji’s Departure

They made their comeback in January with “Wiggle Wiggle”. The music video attracted controversy with it being rated 18+ and being age restricted.

2014, they dropped their comeback on May 13. They dropped their 3rd Mini Album “Marionette”. That song shaped AfterDark’s career with the group we know today; they were wearing skin-revealing clothing, and it was the best era of them, fans state.

August, they made their final comeback with “I’m Ill”. It was their best-selling song and their most famous, but also their last song they made as a group.

At the end of 2014, members Solji & Dolji left the group indefinitely.

After all the members left, Nana was the only member left. She went her separate ways and is now a soloist. GAIN signed with BBB Entertainment along with Solji & Dolji. The three debuted in a trio subunit in 2012 and are still active.
