Aghathiyaa is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language Historical drama horror thriller film written and directed by Pa. Vijay.[1] The film stars Jiiva and Raashii Khanna in the lead roles, alongside Arjun Sarja and Edward Sonnenblick in prominent roles,[2] with Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley, Azhagam Perumal and Indraja Shankar in supporting roles.[3] The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner and co-produced by Aneesh Arjun Dev under WAMINDIA.[4] The film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Deepak Kumar Padhy, and editing by San Lokesh.[5]

Production
Development
In mid-May 2020, lyricist-turned-director Pa. Vijay announced his third directorial venture titled Methavi with Jiiva, Arjun Sarja, Raashii Khanna in the lead roles.[6][7] The film was said to be of the horror thriller genre and bankrolled by S. Raja of Makkal Arasan Pictures.[8] Although, Pa. Vijay had worked with Yuvan Shankar Raja, Methavi[9] marked the maiden collaboration of Pa. Vijay with Yuvan Shankar Raja in the former's direction.[6][10] But the project got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the death of a Russian girl playing a crucial role.[7] In late-March 2023, it was announced that Vels Film International had taken up the project and were planning to release it, but it was eventually shelved.[7][11]
In late-March 2023, director Pa. Vijay confirmed that he was associating again, thereby retaining most of the cast and crew for a new untitled period drama film.[7][12] On 7 October 2024, Vels Film International, through a first look poster, revealed the title of the film Aghathiyaa[4] starring Jiiva and Raashii Khanna[13] in the lead roles alongside Arjun Sarja and Edward Sonnenblick in prominent roles[2] and Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley in supporting roles.[3]
The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner and co-produced by Aneesh Arjun Dev under Wide Angle Media.[4] The film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Deepak Kumar Padhy,[14] and editing by San Lokesh.[5]
Filming
Principal photography was planned to be shot on a set in Ramoji Film City, in Hyderabad and some portions in Ooty and Kodaikanal.[7]
Release
Theatrical
A release date is yet to be announced, while the film is set to be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages.[2]
