Ahmed Ennaji
Ahmed Ennaji (born on 1 Jan. 1955 in Timoulilt (Azilal), Morocco; died on 26 Oct. 2010 in Casablanca, Morocco, was a Moroccan veterinarian and martial arts expert.
Biography
Ahmed Ennaji went to primary school in his Berber home village of Timoulilt, 20 km away from the city of Beni-Mellal, north of Marrakesh. His training began as a high school student of experimental sciences in Beni-Mellal in 1968. In 1975, he obtained his Baccalaureate certificate and joined [[1]] at Rabat to study veterinary medicine. Upon his graduation in 1981, he was appointed in Dakhla city in the [[2]] as a veterinarian supervising the food consumed by the army. Then, in 1982, he was transferred to Fès to work with the agricultural company SOGETA as a veterinary doctor. He got married in Casablanca in 1983 to Fatiha Sifeddine who bore him a son, Mehdi, and a daughter, Salma. In 1989, he left the above-mentioned company and opened his own clinic together with his colleague Abdallah Amraoui in the same city. He was the first veterinary doctor in Morocco to introduce and practice artificial insemination for cattle, which really helped improve cattle farming in the country. He later specialized in poultry farming, especially the raising of chicken for the purpose of farming meat or eggs for food. He then became one of the best-known poultry veterinarians in North Africa and excelled in poultry medicine, health, and management.
His main hobby was martial arts and chiefly aikido, which he practiced essentially for competition, physical health and fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical, and spiritual development. He participated in many competitions in Morocco and worldwide, and won a number of awards.
Notes
Ahmed Ennaji, as an aikido practitioner, progressed by promotion through a series of "grades" (kyū), followed by a series of "degrees" (dan), then reaching the highest grade of black belt, and then professor of Aikido. He trained hundreds of Moroccan youth in aikido clubs and organizations.
