Aidan Connolly
Aidan Connolly is an Irish business executive, agricultural technology strategist, author, and president of AgriTech Capital, known for his leadership roles at Alltech, the dairy technology company Cainthus, and the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA).[1] He previously held senior roles at Alltech and was chief executive of the Irish dairy technology company Cainthus.[2][3]
Early life and education
Connolly earned a master's degree in international marketing from the Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin.[4]
Career
Alltech
Connolly began working for the animal nutrition company Alltech in the early 1990s, holding positions in Ireland, France, Brazil and the United States.[5] From 2002 to 2008, he was vice-president of Europe for the company.[2] In 2014, he was appointed chief innovation officer, overseeing the commercialisation of research and corporate account strategy.[6] Connolly is a nephew of Pearse Lyons, Alltech's founder.[7]
Cainthus
In 2019, Connolly became chief executive of Cainthus, an Irish agri-technology company using computer vision technology for livestock monitoring.[8] He left the role in 2022.
AgriTech Capital
Since 2022, Connolly has led AgriTech Capital, a consultancy and investment firm in the agribusiness sector.[4]
Other activities
Connolly is an adjunct professor of marketing at University College Dublin and China Agricultural University.[2] He has served on the boards of the International Feed Industry Federation and the National Chicken Council.[2]
Publications
Connolly has written and co-written books on business strategy, including 2-1-4-3 and Plan Your Explosive Business Growth – As Simple as 2-1-4-3, the latter with his wife Kate Phillips Connolly.[7] He also authored The Future of Agriculture, published by Irish Farmers Monthly.[5]
Recognition
Connolly has been accepted into the Forbes Technology Council, an invitation-only community for world-class CIOs, CTOs, and technology executives.[9] Irish Farmers Monthly described Connolly as "something of a futurologist when it comes to agriculture" and the technologies likely to shape the sector.[10] He has been profiled in Irish America magazine and has spoken at industry conferences including The Vision Conference.[11]
