Akhil Bharatiya Khatik Samaj (Hindi: अखिल भारतीय खटीक समाज) was founded in 1982 under the leadership of Rajnath Sonkar Shastri with Gangaram Nirvan to promote the interests of Khatik people of the Indian society. [1][2]

Objectives of formation[edit]

The All India Khatik Samaj was founded in Delhi, India on 26 July 1982, as an offshoot of the Khatik Samaj. The Khatik Samaj has been functioning from 1982 for social causes. It is registered under society registration act wide registration no. N-441.[3]

The Khatik hostel was opened,[4] the Khatik Samaj was created and the Khatik Gazette was started.[5][6]

The AIKS or ABKS was initially founded as Akhil Bharatiya Khatik Samaj. Many freedom fighters, social activist from Khatik community took interest to founding ABKS: (1) Raghunath Jadhav, (Nasik, Maharashtra), (2) Rajnath Sonkar Shastri, (Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh), (3) Mamchand Rewadiya, (Delhi), (4) Jyoti Prasad Sonkar, (Delhi), (5) Gangaram Nirvan, (Delhi), (6) RK Kalyankar, (Simoga, Karnataka), (7) Narayan Prasad Chaudhary, (Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh), (8) Ramsharan Verma, (Dehradun, Uttrakhand), (9) S. Dashrath, (Andhra Pradesh), (10) Smt. Nagratnam Ramkishan, (Bengaluru, Karnataka), (11) Dungaram Rajaura, (Jaipur, Rajasthan), (12) Prof Mahashankar Prasad Sagar, (Darbhanga, Bihar), (13) Hariram Chauhan, (Haryana).

National youth president Rajesh Sonkar and Rajasthan state president Dr. OP Mahendra expanded its scope from rural area to All India in character.[7]

Sister organisations[edit]

later in 1997, another version of the organization was formed under leadership of Munshi Rampal with CP Mahendra with the same wide registration no. S-31375/1997.[8][9]

There are some other Khatik organizations working with ABKS and doing notable work for Khatik society.

  2. Rashtravadi Khatik Vikas Samiti - led by SN Chak Retired as DGP (prosecution) Uttar Pradesh Police [12][13]

Political involvement[edit]

Khatiks population in India is around 7 crores and the number of people is enough to bring attention of political parties towards Khatik politicians, therefore ABKS has helped many Khatik leaders winning various parliamentary elections including Virendra Kumar Khatik, Manoj Rajoria, Bhola Singh, Vinod Sonkar, Udit Raj and Neelam Sonkar.

Akhil Bharatiya Khatik Samaj has launched "Swabhiman Yatra" in Haryana on 30th June 2019 in the leadership of State President Vijendra Badgurjar to create social, political awareness in the Khatik community.[14]
