Akhtar Hayat Khan
Akhtar Hayat Khan (Sitara-e-Shuja’at)[1][2][3] (Urdu: اختر حیات خان ) is a Pakistani police officer who serves as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa[4][5]. He was appointed to the position on February 10, 2023[6][7] and has since led the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police force in various operations and initiatives aimed at maintaining law and order, combating terrorism, and ensuring public safety in the province[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]

Career
Akhtar Hayat Khan belongs to Dera Ismail Khan. He was the senior ASP on the course from 1995-96. He served in many important positions during his service, including Additional IGP CTD Balochistan, Additional IGP Special Branch Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zonal Director FIA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Additional DG FIA HQ Islamabad. He has also been the regional police officer of Swat, Hazara[16], Kohat, Malakand[17], Mardan[18], and Gwadar. He did his bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering in Lahore. He was rewarded with the sword of honor and has been serving the police force since 1994[19][20][not in citation given]
Awards and Recognition
Hayat’s exceptional bravery and meritorious services earned him the Sitara-i-Shuja'at[2], the highest civilian award for bravery, by President Asif Ali Zardari in recognition of his efforts in eliminating hardcore militants and their networks, significantly contributing to the province's security and stability[1]
