Akin Junction is a railroad junction in Eastern Township, Franklin County, Illinois, United States. The junction is located at a Canadian National Railway junction (formerly Illinois Central Railroad) serving CN's Bluford Subdivision and Eldorado Subdivision along County Route 17, 8.7 miles (14.0 km) east of Benton.[2] Norfolk Southern Railway has running rights over some of the CN lines through Akin Junction.[3]
The Sugar Camp thermal coal mine formerly owned by Williamson Energy and now by Foresight Energy is located at Akin Junction.[4]
