Rust is an populated place in Eastern Township, Franklin County, Illinois, United States. The community is located along County Route 17 8.7 miles (14.0 km) east of Benton.[2]
The site is approximately seven miles east of Benton and six miles north of Thompsonville along the old Illinois Central Railroad. Akin Junction and Akin Creek are just to the north.[3]
