Alan Barnes Travelling Scholarship
The Alan Barnes Travelling Scholarship is an award made annually at the discretion of the president of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects, in conjunction with other adjudicators.[who?] The scholarship amount, which varies between £500 and £1000, is intended to help architectural students to travel and to study architecture overseas.[1]
History and criteria[edit]
Alan Barnes died in 1987 and to honour his memory, the Barnes family in conjunction with the Royal Society of Ulster Architects and the Queen's University of Belfast established a travelling scholarship.[citation needed] This scholarship is open to any student educated in Northern Ireland who studies at a recognised school of architecture in Britain or Ireland and who is in their third year of study.[1]
