Alan S. Cowen is a computational psychologist and empathic AI researcher. He is currently the Chief Scientist and CEO of Hume AI.

Cowen received his B.A. in Applied mathematics and Cognitive Science from Yale and his PhD in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.
Scientific Contributions[edit]
Cowen’s research focuses on the classification of emotion. He is known for exploring uncharted territories of human emotional expression in the face and voice and for his semantic space theory of emotion,[1] developed alongside Dacher Keltner.
Career[edit]
Cowen served as a Scientific Advisor at Facebook and Google prior to founding Hume AI, an empathic AI research company.
