Alan Knape
Alan Knape (born 29 September 1984) is a Liberal Democrat councillor.
Early life and education
Alan Knape is the son of Richard Knape and the late Angie Knape (née Luckhurst). He attended Huxlow Secondary School, now Huxlow Academy in Irthlingborough.
Knape graduated from the University of Northampton in 2006 with a BA (Hons) in Business Entrepreneurship, and then went on to qualify first as an accounting technician and then an accountant.
Career
Knape has worked in finance at various companies, mainly in Northamptonshire, starting as a Financial Coordinator in 2008 and working his way up to Financial Controller.
Electoral politics
Knape joined the Liberal Democrats in 2015, after their near wipeout at the general election that year. He served on the executive committee of the Daventry branch for several years as Treasurer and also for a brief stint as chair. Knape has also served as electoral agent for the Daventry Liberal Democrats both at General Elections and local elections since 2017.
He has stood for election once for Northamptonshire County Council,[1] twice for Daventry District Council[2][3][4][5][6] and once for West Northamptonshire Council.[7][8][9] He has never won an election at this level but has increased his vote share each time he has stood.
Even though Knape has not been elected to a principal council, he has often appeared at council meetings to question the leadership [10]
Knape has served as a Councillor on Daventry Town Council since 2017 [11] and has been re-elected twice since.[12][13] He has served as chair and vice-chair of the Finance & Policy Committee.[14]
