Alapra is a village located in the south-east of kottayam District. The biggest feature of this village is the Thachirikkal Bhagavathi temple located near the forest.

This is a temple where the ritual art form of Central Travancore, Padayani , is performed without losing its originality with vadakkan and thekkan chittas coordination. The Padayani at Thacharikkal temple is led by the Alapra Sree Bhadra Padayani Sangam. The Padayani is a seven-day event that ends on the Rohini day of the Meenam month.
Major places of worship

On the first day of the festival, at nine o’clock in the night, the goddess is invited to the temple by lighting a green tap and placing a sword and a pedestal in the corner of the temple. After the two days of the festival, the festival is completed in seven days with Ganapathikolam, Panchakolam, Adavi, Edapadayani and Valiyapadayani, and concludes with the darshan on the eighth day in the morning. The Padayani of the Alapra Thacharikkal Sree Bhadrakali temple combines the northern and southern styles of Padayani.[1]
