Alberta Davis

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Alberta Davis (December 24, 1881? – January 27, 2007) was the oldest American claimant.

Davis died at the claimed age of 125 years 34 days. Not including immigrants, Alberta had been the oldest ostensible American from 2001 until her death in 2007, an extraordinarily long time, and the first person to claim to be 125 years old made by a United States born person since 1995. She was African American, and lived in Thomson, Georgia. Despite claims of documentation, the only documents produced have been Social Security records, which are not considered as being proof of birth.[citation needed]

Census matches for "Alberta Davis" record one as age 33 in 1930 in the Augusta, Georgia area, and as 23 in 1920 (suggesting a birthdate of December 24, 1896 and an age of 110 if this was her).
