Albertan annexationism is a political current in Alberta, Canada, that advocates ending the province’s membership in the Canadian federation and joining the United States, most often through admission as a U.S. state and, in some proposals, as a U.S. territory. It has appeared intermittently and is commonly linked to Western alienation and Alberta separatism, particularly during disputes over energy policy, federal taxation, and regulatory authority. Although originating from Albertan separatism, the current for annexation are considered a fringe movement and public support has generally been limited; with polls fielding widespread opposition to the idea of Alberta becoming part of the United States.

Annexationist ideas have since reappeared through small organizations and publicity campaigns that overlap with separatist activism. Separatist groups have also promoted annexation as a possible end-state of independence.[1]
