Alex , a former K-pop trainee, is independently managed through his self-owned label, MYTHS & LEGENDS Records (MLUNIVERSE), which serves as his primary management and creative company.

ÁLEX has collaborated with producer and engineer IKEK (Shin Dong Ik), songwriter Annie Ko of Love X Stereo, producer, (BOYHOOD) Nam Dong Hyun, and composer Vincenzo Adelini. His releases include Boost (2024), Black (2025), Better (2025), I Dare You (2026), and Gravity (2026).

Alex Kinchen (full name: Alex Isidro Mayo Kinchen) was born in Washington, D.C. He is multiracial, his father being African American and his mother of East Asian and Indigenous ancestry. He spent part of his early life and later years in Waikīkī, Honolulu, Hawaii, where he developed an interest in Hawaiian and Pacific Island culture. Kinchen devoted his younger years in martial arts from a young age, training in Filipino ''Suntukan'' and Gōjū-ryū karate. He also studied Kendo and Okinawan White Crane-influenced martial arts.

K-Pop History

In June 2005, at age 15, Kinchen was approached by a recruiter in the United States during his summer break. After initially declining the offer, he later accepted and began entertainment training under Mnet Media.

He later parted ways with Mnet Media (CJ E&M) and became involved with its creative division, DIA TV. In 2012, during a hiatus from the entertainment industry, Kinchen began uploading content to YouTube. He subsequently gained recognition as a digital artist and animator, particularly for his photorealistic digital artwork featuring K-pop artists.

Comic Book author and Digital Artist

Before his K-Pop training, in 1999 at the age of nine, Alex emerged as a talented comic book author and artist, creating original comic series and publishing his work through school newspapers. These early projects marked the beginning of his long-standing career as a storyteller, artist, and creator of interconnected fictional worlds. In 2004 he designed a Flash-based video game and launched his webcomic series FIRE AND HEART on DeviantArt.

His early projects became part of a shared fictional universe centered around the antagonist Guardians Killer, with titles including FIREANDHEART, INFERNO, and THE GUARDIANS KILLER. The projects later developed into the broader MLUNIVERSE. In 2019, Kinchen's earlier creative brand ASIATIC HEROES was rebranded as MLUNIVERSE COMICS, expanding the concept into a multimedia platform incorporating music, film, comics, animation, fashion, and other creative projects. His comic work is characterized by action-oriented stories, diverse characters, and Asian representation. The character The Phoenix later became the inspiration for his musical persona, BONGHWANG (봉황).

K-Indie / Music Career

In 2019, Kinchen announced the launch of his independent label and film division, Myths and Legends. He later established MYTHS & LEGENDS Records as his primary independent label and management company.

In 2021, he released the early demo "Antarctica", produced by Italian composer Vincenzo Adelini. In 2024, Kinchen released "Boost", which was co-written by Annie Ko of Love X Stereo and produced by IKEK (Shin Dong Ik). Annie Ko has also collaborated with K-pop artist AleXa, contributing to AleXa's song "i'm okay" as a co-writer and producer.

On November 5, 2024, Kinchen announced ALISTAIR as his official fandom name.

In 2026, he collaborated with South Korean producer Nam Dong Hyun on "Gravity", further expanding his work within the Korean independent music scene. Nam Dong Hyun is the younger brother of singer-songwriter Nam Tae Hyun, a former member of YG Entertainment's boy group WINNER. DongHyun is rumored to become Alex main producer.

FIRE AND HEART: The Avatar World (2026)

Fire and Heart: The Avatar Project is an upcoming visual and multimedia project by ALEX 봉황, featuring visuals by 王亚楠 (SANSMOG), who serves as the project's lead Animation Director. The project introduces the first official physical visual representation of ALEX within the Fire and Heart universe and serves as a teaser for the album and its accompanying multimedia world. It is expected to feature ALEX's previously released songs, new material, and future collaborations. Similar to the K-pop group aespa, which incorporates virtual avatars and digital characters into its artistic universe, Fire and Heart: The Avatar Project combines ALEX's live performances and real-world identity with a virtual avatar. The project blends music, cinematic storytelling, animation, and virtual-world elements to expand the Fire and Heart universe. However, ALEX remains the primary artist, vocalist, performer, and creative identity. The avatar is an extension of his fictional universe and appears selectively across his projects rather than replacing the real-life artist.

Personal Life

Alex has had an on-and-off relationship with his childhood crush, Grace Han, an aspiring fashion designer. The two have known each other since childhood and have maintained a longstanding personal connection throughout their lives.
