Alexander "Aor" Osipov is a Russian/British composer, vocalist and keyboardist, best known as the founder, leader, composer, lyricist and singer of the symphonic metal band Imperial Age.[1]
He has a tenor voice and has studied classical singing and music, but prefers heavy metal and film music influences.[2]
He first started writing music at the age of 5.[3]
Early and personal life[edit]
Aor was born in Moscow, Russia. When he was a small child, his family moved to the United Kingdom. After finishing high school in Glasgow, Scotland, he moved away from his family to Russia and studied history at the Moscow State University.[4]
In 2005 he founded the band Revelance, and disbanded it in 2010.[5]
In 2012 he founded Imperial Age together with Jane Odintsova.[6]
Imperial Age[edit]
The band rose to prominence in 2016-2018 after Aor and Jane met Christofer Johnsson, leader of Therion, who liked their music, signed them to his label and helped getting noticed internationally through extensive touring with Therion and other bands.[7]
Imperial Age is the second most internationally touring rock band from Russia and the country's most famous symphonic metal band.[8]

Alexander Osipov grew up in the UK, his parents live in Ayr, Scotland. He is bilingual, fluent in both Russian and English.
Alexander is a historian by education (master's degree in history, Moscow State University) with a diploma study investigating the Russian Empire's exploration of Tibet.
He received 3 gold medals in Tai chi at the 8th Hong Kong Wushu Championship in 2011. The same year he passed the "iron shirt" hard Qigong exam which involves smashing bricks with a sledgehammer on one's head[9]
Aor is said to be a member of a secretive magical order and has taken part in reportedly occult expeditions, including Tibet, Nepal, China and Egypt.
