Aleksander Raevsky (Russian: Александр Евгеньевич Раевский) (born 1984) is a Russian Japanologist, specialist in Japanese language and modern culture, and candidate of psychological sciences.

Biography[edit]

Born in Moscow, graduated from the historical department Institute of Asian and African Countries (2006), specialist in Japanese language and history, Associate Professor at Faculty of Psychology, MSU. Studied at Tokai University (2004—2005) and Waseda University (2007—2008). Graduated from the Graduate school of the MSU Faculty of Psychology.[1]

The topic of his PhD thesis is «Socio-psychological factors of religious terrorism in Japan» (2015).[2]

He is currently a lecturer of Japanese language and culture at the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University (since 2009). Associate Professor at the Department of Language Psychology and Foreign Language Studies. His research interests include history and culture of Japan, social psychology, psychology of terrorism and comparative cultural-linguistic studies.[3] Visiting professor at Tohoku University (2019).

Ofteninvited as a speaker to different TV and radio programs about Japanese culture: on the radio channels Radio Mayak,[4] Kommersant FM,[5] and on the TV channel NTV (Russia).[6]

Video blogger on the topic of Japan on the YouTube channel (1.5 thousand subscribers; 130 thousand views).[7]

He is a regular participant in the program "Rules of Life" (2014—2019) on the TV channel Culture.

He is the frontman of the "Ramen band" (lyrics, vocals, ukulele).
