Alexis Quezada Cardenas (born May 2, 1997 in Chicago) is an American, Ecuadorian and Mexican descent footballer who plays as a midfielder for Leixões in the Segunda Liga Portugal.

Personal Life[edit]

Quezada was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised most of his life in West Chicago, Illinois. Attending Wegner Elementary School, Leman Middle School and West Chicago Community High School until deciding to pursue and sign his first professional contract in South America.[1]

W.C United Wildcats[edit]

Quezada first participated in club soccer with his hometown team, W.C United Wildcats which stands for West Chicago United.

Chicago Fire[edit]

After a short high school career at West Chicago (IL) Community high school, Quezada trialed with Chicago Fire youth academy in the Major League Soccer. Spending four years in the clubs youth academy.[2]

Deportivo Cuenca[edit]

On February 12, 2014 it was announced that Quezada signed his first professional contract with Deportivo Cuenca of the Serie A after being on trial with Toluca U15's in Mexico and not being able to stay due to nationality problems. Receiving his first call up to Cuenca's first squad and becoming an (Juvenil) which is a word for young upcoming players who are more likely to receive playing time in first division and train with the senior squad daily. Quezada received minutes in reserves (OPEN AGE) and U18 with just 16 years of age.[3]

Club Necaxa[edit]

In 2015, Quezada was on trial with Necaxa. After a couple of friendly matches played with their reserves, both didn't come to an agreement for his services. Also, nationality played a big role in the clubs negotiation for Quezada.[4]

Club Venados[edit]

On July 6, 2016 Quezada received his Mexican nationality and was joining Mexican side Venados F.C. of Ascenso MX. Not playing much of his time there due to 5 injuries on his same ankle until playoffs. Helping Cantera Venados obtain their first championship title in their institution Tercera División in GROUP 1.[5]

Club Celaya[edit]

On January 4, 2018 it was announced that Quezada signed with Celaya in the Ascenso MX[6]

Leixões S.C.[edit]

July 1st, 2020, Leixões in the Segunda Liga Portugal announces an agreement with Valadares Gaia for the transfer of Quezada after the midfielder & Valadares did not agree on some personal terms after arriving in Portugal. [7]
