Ali al-Qurashi is a Saudi critic and researcher. He was born in Taif, Saudi Arabia in 1371 AH. He is one of the most famous and important cultural and academic faces in Taif[1], a lot of books in literary criticism were published by him including (self journey in the space of the ancient poetic text)[2] and the book (Novel Transformations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), which won the Ministry of Culture and Media award in 1434 AH (2014).[3]

Education[edit]

  • He holds a bachelor’s degree from Umm Al-Qura University in 1402 AH, and his thesis entitled (The Exaggeration of Arabic Rhetoric: its history and its images).
  • He holds a PhD from Umm Al-Qura University in 1410 AH, and his thesis entitled was (Poetic Image in Bishr Bin Abi Khazim Al-Asadi Poetry).[4]

Career[edit]

  • Professor of literature and criticism in Taif University.
  • Secretary of the poet Mohammed Al-Thubaiti Award for creativity 2014.[5]
  • He worked as a member in the management literary club council in Taif Governorate, since it was established until 1430 AH.
  • He worked as the chairman of the cultural committee of cultural and arts society in its branch in taif, and a supervisor in Okaz Forum between 1421-1427 AH.
  • He worked as a member in editorial board in (Souk Okaz) periodical, which was issued by the Taif Club.
  • He writes the weekly section of ( Writing and Tale ) in Riyadh newspaper.[6]

  • ( Novel Transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ) published in 2013[12]. This book has won the Ministry of Culture and Media for the book award in 1434 AH (2014). In this book, AlQurashi monitored a lot of local novelist transformations as he monitored novel reality by the first generation of novelists, leading to tracking a lot of novel transformations in our local scene through many novels that he considered as models to be studied to what he has discussed in the transformations in his book.[13]

  • He was honored by The Association of Culture and Arts after his book (Novel Transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) won the 2014 ministry of culture and media Award.[14]
  • He held the distinction certificate from Taif University in the academic year 1428/1429 AH.
