Alice Dreams Tournament is an upcoming Independently developed commercially released videogame programmed by Julien Desquenne with graphics from Nicolas Pochet and musical contributions by Philippe Vendi. It is an action game for the Sega Dreamcast.

The biggest inspiration for Alice Dreams Tournament has been Bomberman by Hudson Soft.

Game play[edit]

Core Mechanics[edit]

Similar to Bomberman Each stage is presented as a maze of blocks filled with rivals. By using bombs, the player must destroy the blocks blocking their path and defeat all of the rivals. Each stage also includes one power-up hidden under one of the blocks, which can increase the number of bombs drops, increase the range of the bombs' explosions, and other useful powers.

Multiplayer[edit]

The game is multi-player which allows up to four players to compete against one another or in team-based.

Modes[edit]

This independent game includes 7 different gameplays :

  • Classic Battle mode Traditional Bomber Man style action with some VMU screens interaction to spice things up.
  • Hide & Seek asynchronous gameplay using the VMU screens
  • Multi Kill Death match style mode where player kills as many opponents as possible
  • Brain Battle with mental calculations
  • Assault mode kill specific targets and protect yours by building walls
  • Capture the Flag Bring enemy flag and protect yours by building walls
  • Bodyguard play successively as the bodyguard, the protected and the killers!

Development[edit]

The game is drawn by Nicolas "Poche" Pochet a cartoon animator and programmed by Julien "Patbier" Desquenne. The duo are based in France, in 2006 they were developing a platformer titled Alice Dreams. Dynamite Dreams was conceived as an unlockable mini-game.

In October 2007, the trailer of the game was published on Nicolas Pochet's YouTube channel which was also featured on G4TV's Attack of the Show with a projected release date of 2008.[1][2][3] [4] Additionally, a playable Dreamcast demo was also downloadable from the games official website.[5]

In 2013, Julien Desquenne and Nicolas Pochet presented Dynamite Dreams at Japan Expo where they received significant media coverage.[6][7][8] A video of the pair's experience was uploaded on YouTube which featured Desquenne walking around Japan Expo with an LCD and Dreamcast strapped to his body so that he could experience the user experience directly.[9]

In 2014, Dynamite Dreams was featured at Midwest Gaming Classic the game was presented by Goat Store without Desqyenne and Pochet.

In September 2015, Alice Dreams Tournament Kickstarter launched a Kickstarter which was funded in 28 hours and all stretch goals were successfully reached before the campaign was over.[10]
