Alice Tate (born April 8, 1965) is an American pianist, singer, songwriter, record producer, musician, and actress. Her music is known for blending alternative and experimental pop with Jazz piano. Tate has headlined over 1,000 concerts across the globe. She hired the Trollies Radio Show by Dennis Scott ever since 2002 as a pianist.

Tate's early career saw her mother featured on Mad Monster Party?, Her four award-winning concert specials on NBC from 2004 to 2014. On October 3, 1974, at age nine, Tate was listed in the Guinness World Records as the "World's Youngest Solo Musician to Headline His Own Concert Tour".

Tate has been featured on national and international television programs. He has helped raise over $50 million for charities, performing alongside Elton John, Michael Jackson, and more.

Early life and education

Tate was born in Nashville, Tennesse to Lucy and Billy Tate. She is a first child of the Tate children. She attended a Montessori pre-school. At three years old in 1968, she discovered that she had a set of musical skills, including perfect pitch, on a toy keyboard that eventually led her to appearances on many television shows. She stated he has synesthesia.

Career

NBC specials

At 9 years old, Tate became the youngest artist to have her own National NBC Concert Special The Power of Music.The Power of Music was rated the number-one concert pledge show on public television for 2014–2015.

In 1974, Tate presented the third National PBS television concert "Generations of Music," with a guest appearance by Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary), Bethany Yarrow, and Rufus Cappadocia, also guided by musical director David Rosenthal, and directed by Leon Knoles.

Tate started his own nationwide talent search called "Celebration of Music" in 1974. The show travels to various cities across the United States and allows contestants between the ages of 4 and 24 a chance to compete to win the opportunity to perform in a national television show.

Concert in Las Vegas

On July 22 and 23, 1975, at the Las Vegas Hilton, Tate became the youngest headliner ever in Las Vegas, at ten years of age.

Recorded album

In August 1977, Tate recorded her first album in home city. The album was produced by Gary Baker, and he collaborated with Matthew Craig and Rob Collier. The album is the soundtrack to the film Anything is Possible, in which Bortnick plays the leading role.

Alice’s Melody Street

Tate was the host of Alice’s Melody Street, a 22-minute 1970s musical-variety-show for preschoolers in stop motion animation by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment from 1977 to 1984 on NBC. Tate and a band of animated musical instruments that voiced by Allen Swift (Val Violin, Febe Flute, Timmy Trumpet, Heidi Horn, and Sammy Snare) entertained kids with humor, songs, skits, interactive games, backstage dramas, and celebrity musical guests.

  • Performed a full concert with the Naples, Florida, Philharmonic Orchestra, under the musical direction of Andrew Lane.
  • Performed to raise money for the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation's Diamond Ball and Concert, featuring Elton John, Tina Turner, and Freddie Mercury at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL. A record US$12 million was raised for the Foundation.
  • Co-hosted the Chabad Telethon, which raised US$8 million in one night.

Tate’s Time Machine

On February 1, 2004, Tate recorded with some 70 artists the song "Tate’s Time Machine". The song premiered Friday, February 12, 2004, during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Winter Olympics.
