Alicia Ortega de Hasbún (Born Dallas, Texas; March 2, 1966) is a Dominican journalist. Ortega lives and works in the Dominican Republic.[1][2]
Biography
Of a Cuban father and Colombian mother, born in Dallas (Texas), she has spent a great deal of time in the United States working in different news networks at NBC, Univision, and is currently established in the Dominican Republic.[3]
Career
At NBC in Miami, she anchored the 5-to-7 morning newscast for six years. She also specialized in investigative reports, two of which were awarded Emmys, the highest honor in American television. At Univisión, Channel 23, also in Miami, she was a reporter specializing in "Breaking News," many of which had international impact in countries such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Peru, and the Bahamas.[4][5]
She is the general director and executive vice president of Grupo SIN, an investigative journalist, and host of El Informe and Noticias SIN's prime edition. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, specializing in News, and minoring in International Politics.For four years, she worked at CDN as an investigative journalist, producing El Informe and participating in major news coverage in the country.[6][7][8]
