All India Memon Jamat Federation (AIMJF) is a non-governmental federation of over 500 local Memon jamats (community organizations) across India. Established in 1971, the AIMJF works in the fields of welfare, education, disaster relief, and community development.[1]
History
AIMJF was formally established in April 1971 during a national community convention in Baroda, Gujarat. Since then, it has evolved into one of the largest Memon umbrella organizations in India.
Initiatives and Programs
Disaster Management Wing
In March 2024, AIMJF renew its Disaster Management Wing during a community summit in Basmat, Maharashtra. The initiative aims to respond to natural calamities with relief aid including food, medical support, and temporary housing. The Federation also used the platform to announce expanded welfare schemes such as mass marriage support, housing aid for widows, and empowerment programs for women.[citation needed]
MemonID Demographic Survey
To better understand the socio-economic and educational conditions of the Memon population in India, AIMJF launched a nationwide survey using a digital platform called MemonID. The mobile application allows families to register and update household-level data securely, and is intended to inform policy decisions and community planning.[2]
Community Welfare Programs
AIMJF frequently organizes mass marriages for economically weaker families, provides financial support for medical treatment, and offers scholarships to underprivileged students. These programs aim to uplift economically backward sections of the community.[citation needed]
World Memon Day
AIMJF promotes World Memon Day, observed annually on 10 April to celebrate Memon culture, history, and philanthropy. The 2025 edition was held at Islam Gymkhana in Mumbai and was attended by over 500 dignitaries, social workers, and interfaith leaders. The day is marked by lectures, award ceremonies, and community service events.[3] [4][5]
Legal Status
The organization is registered under:
- Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 (Reg. No. F-4564)
- Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Reg. No. BOM-166/77 G.B.B.S.D.)
