Allen's Plantation, also known as Mountain's View was a plantation in Saint John and Saint Mary Parishes, Antigua and Barbuda.
Present day[edit]
The sugar mill is still standing, although the stonework is significantly deteriorating due to trees and roots. The mill is located on one of Antigua's highest hills, McNish Hill, so it is a steep climb to get there. On top of McNish Hill, the elevation does offer a view of the surrounding countryside, which was the origin of its secondary name, Mountain's View. The ruins of a building that may have been a component of the works are halfway down the slope. There is also the former location of Hamilton (Hambleton) village, which was destroyed by hurricanes in the 1950s, as well as the brackish Salt Spring. Three families were compelled to leave the village and move into Bendals (#37) at the time. On the hills, enormous royal palms, flamboyants, lilies, and mother-in-law tongue continue to flourish.[1]
