'Operadora de Tiendas Futurama, S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Alsuper, is a Mexican supermarket chain founded in Chihuahua, México in 1954. As of 2025[update] it has 81 stores in several cities in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango and Zacatecas.
History
The chain was founded in 1954 by Sir Leopoldo Mares Paredes in a small warehouse in Chihuahua City. Early known as El Super del Real Lerdo, this pioneer store offered a large quantity of products and operated with only 40 associates.
In 1955, the chain opened its second store and expanded its offices and warehouses, followed by the opening of three more stores in the subsequent four years. In 1967, the chain adopted the Futurama name and started operating as a discount store.
During the 1990s decade, Alsuper emerged as an express concept, centered on providing an easy and fast grocery shopping experience. The first store under this concept, Alsuper Flores Magón, opened in 1993.
In 1997, Alsuper launched Club Alsuper, its loyalty program, a simple and innovative concept that attracted loyal shoppers, providing exclusive benefits like discounts on selected items, points accumulation for shopping, and the possibility of obtaining up to 20% off pantry items and exclusive promotions at associated stores.
At 2010, Alsuper experienced a transformation, aiming to become a multi-regional chain, expanding through Northern Mexico. Conscious of contemporary demands, it launched alsuper.com, an e-commerce platform that offers delivery and in-store services.
