Altap Salamander
Altap Salamander[edit]
Altap Salamander is a shareware orthodox file manager for Microsoft Windows, inspired by Norton Commander. It features a context aware user interface that hides complexity. For example, the bottom function list changes when modifier keys are pressed, displaying only the currently available hotkey functions.[1]
Development began in 1996 as a hobby project by Petr Šolín from the Czech Republic during his university studies. It was first released as freeware in 1997 and originally written in Watcom C++, later in Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. The last freeware version, 1.52, is available for download from the Altap website.
The first shareware version, 2.0, was released in 2001 by the company Altap. Version 2.0 included support for viewer and archiver plugins. During the development of version 2.5, the plugin architecture was expanded to support file system plugins for FTP and other protocols.
The plugin SDK for version 2.5 allows developers to create new viewer plugins, archiver plugins, file system plugins, and tools like multi-rename or file compare.

You can also use the context-sensitive menu to rename and delete files or directories, create directories, edit files or use the built-in viewer to preview files, all with the touch of a function key.
