The Alternate Computerversand GmbH is a computer hardware retailer in Europe, located in Linden (Hesse). The company sells its products through their online shop and its own call center. There are two retail stores in Linden.[1]

Alternate is also present in the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and Spain. The company also owns wave-computer.de for resale. Alternate is the main sponsor of the eSports-Team Alternate aTTaX.

History[edit]

  • 1992 Foundation
  • 1996 Moved to a new building in Linden (from Gießen)
  • 1997 October 15 the web shop went online
  • 1998 Opening of the subsidiary in the Netherlands
  • 2000 Start of the new logistics centre in Linden (ca. 3,500 m²)
  • 2001 German Internet Award of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology; opening of the Spanish subsidiary
  • 2004 extension of the logistics centre (on now 5,800 m²); start of the new web shop
  • 2005 the Dutch subsidiary moves to new building with 5,600 m² usable area
  • 2006 takeover of the two neighbouring, 15,000 m² sports parks (Alternate sports park)
  • 2007 Opening of a shop in Aartselaar, Belgium
